Dynamic Dell Aerial Videography

When the phone rings and people want to talk to us about using aerial videography to capture those really dynamic aerial viewpoints for their project, we never know exactly what will be coming next.  Aerial videography always draws the really creative producers who think outside the box.  This time it was EMC TV who called us.  This time we would be capturing dynamic aerial videography of skydivers as they jump from an airplane in Central Texas.  You may think, “Okay, what’s so hard about that?” but there’s more.  We needed to capture footage of them free falling into and out of an aerial formation.  The next step was the opening of the new 50 foot Dell Technologies logo banner that was to land precisely in the designated open field among the Dell Round Rock, TX campus buildings.  Then there were the skydivers in winged suits that were going to just skim over the top of the Dell Technologies banner as it is floating down.  There is always much more to aerial videography than meets the eye.  A tremendous amount of coordination between the pilot of the airplane and the helicopter had to take place to make sure the timing was perfect but to also make sure the skydivers were always safe.  We used the Cineflex Elite with the Alexa Camera mounted to the nose of a Bell Jet Ranger.  Once again, our experienced aerial camera operator and film pilot were able to capture spectacular aerial images while our companion company, Matthew and Company was on the ground capturing spectacular images of this aerial acrobat show from the ground.  It was a great honor to have been invited to play a part in the introduction of this new alignment between Dell and EMC.  Dell’s merger with EMC to complete the Dell Technologies consortium may be one of the biggest steps toward advancing the use of technology in our daily lives.  The spectacular opening production for the introduction of Dell Technologies will give you a  great idea as to the significance of this new merger. It will also show you the dynamic aerial videography the professionals at  HDaerial can deliver.

Cadillac V Series Aerials COTA Austin TX

30 Nov Cadillac V Series Aerials COTA Austin TX

Aerial Filming of the Cadillac V Series Performance Lab at COTA in Austin, TX

Late in November of 2015, The Circuit of the Americas track in Austin, TX became the focus of our attention with over twenty of the new Cadillac V series cars on the track to show the world what they could do. Untitled Inc brought Scott Zacaroli on as Director and Matt Trub of HDaerial as Aerial Director of Photography to capture some of those spectacular moments of the Cadillac V Series Aerials COTA Austin TX. We used the Cineflex Ultra with the RED Epic Carbon Fiber Dragon camera and the Canon 4K Digital Zoom 30mm – 300mm lens. With the V series cars moving at speeds of up to 150 mph, the Cineflex Ultra was able to provide smooth and rock solid aerial footage at 4K of these cars moving around the track. The Cineflex ULTRA is lighter and more compact than competing systems, making it the superior choice for aircraft especially in fast moving circumstances like the Cadillac V Series Performance Labs at The Circuit of The Americas in Austin, TX.

This project was ultimately edited down into a two and a half minute video promoting the Cadillac V series and The Drive of your Life. Clearly, Cadillac is introducing new technology that will change the way consumers will look at Cadillac when considering their next car purchase. What better way to show case this new automobile technology than with the latest and greatest gyron stabilization technology ….the Cineflex Ultra and the RED Epic Carbon Fiber Dragon with Matt Trub, Aerial Director of Photography behind the controls.

Aerial Footage New York

Aerial Cinematography can capture dynamic angles of construction sites, scenes for feature films, television shows and commercials or beautiful panoramic views of your city.  The Aerial Footage New York was shot with a Cineflex Elite. Matt Trub was the aerial camera operator on this job.

The gyro-stablilized Cineflex Elite with the ARRI ALEXA camera makes brings affordable feature film quality to any production anywhere in the world. The new lightweight Cineflex Elite and ARRI ALEXA camera provides a lower cost of operation than any other aerial gyro-stabilized system.  The Cineflex Elite houses the ARRI ALEXA Super 35 camera and Canon 4k Digital Cinema Zoom lenses. This camera/lens combo along with the 5 axis gyro-stabilized Cineflex delivers an extremely stable image in most weather conditions. Onboard recording is available to SxS Pro Media cards, and 3G single or dual link for ARRIRAW capture. Action scenes can now be filmed with high speed rates up to 120 frames per second. Lens choices include 14.5-60mm and 30-300mm zooms.

With onboard recording inside the helicopter and instant playback, maximum flight times can be achieved without the need to land the helicopter to reload film magazines or digital media. The ARRI ALEXA extends the value of aerial filming production by simultaneously recording ARRIRAW 2880 x 1620 files to a Gemini 444 and Apple ProRes 1080p to SxS media. Recording options include SxS 64Gb Pro Media, Gemini 444 ARRIRAW digital recorder, Sony HDCAM SR, AJA KiPro, and the NanoFlash. Other record decks available upon request.

New York has never looked better from the air.  The Cineflex Elite will deliver the dramatic or breathtaking aerial images your project or film needs. Our aerial cinematographer, Matt Trub, is a very experienced aerial camera operator. He has an eye for just the right shot. Aerial Footage New York will give you an idea how powerful dynamic aerial images can be for your project or film.

Levi's-GranFondo-Bike-Race

Levi’s GranFondo Bike Race

HDaerialfilmed aerial footage of Levi’s GranFondo Bike Race. Tens of thousands of cyclists from nearly every corner of the world tout Levi’s GranFondo Bike Race as simply the best bike ride on the continent with 128 miles of potential routes over ten distinct course options. Dozens of media outlets agree, from Outside to Bicycling to Road Bike Action and beyond agree with this assessment.

The aerial footage of Levi’s GranFondo Bike Race was captured with the Cineflex V14 mounted on a Bell 407 helicopter capturing the grace and beauty of this course. Several riders were featured in a documentary aired on a UK television station. Since these riders were from the UK, they were followed through the selection process, the training process and then the actual race. The Cineflex V14 was selected to shoot this race because of its rock solid 5 axis gyro-stabilized camera system. The Cineflex V14 allowed us to quickly maneuver over the course to capture the efforts of each cyclist.

Capturing these images also took some air to ground coordination. To follow the 3 cyclists from the UK, communications were set up between the ground production crew and our aerial production team. Being positioned to catch aerial images of each of the UK cyclist was critical. HDaerial excels at aerial coordination. Solid aerial coordination will make the difference between a really successful aerial project and a mediocre aerial project.

Aerial footage of the Levi’s GandFondo Bike Race is a great example of how powerful and important aerial images can be to your documentary. It takes team work to capture those aerial images. HDaerial brings a strong team to the table when hired to shoot aerial cinematography for your documentary. HDaerial is a team you can count on to deliver the images you need to communicate your message.

Roads and Bridges survey

23 Sep Central Texas Road Ways

Central Texas Road Ways

When they were looking to expand Central Texas Road Ways, aerial cinematography and aerial photography before, during and after the expansion were critical. Before the large Toll Road project build out of SH 130 and SH 45, the aerial images HDaerial produced were vital tools for the Texas Department of Transportation as they planned and located necessary parcels of land. But it wasn’t just the planning stages that need our expertise, HDaerial provided high quality images throughout this entire project from start to finish. Aerials were shot as progress was being made to make sure the project was on the right track. Aerials were shot again at the completion of the project for news and promotional purposes.

Aerial photography can also be of great value. This image of a bridge over the Colorado River just north of Austin, TX gives you a bird’s eye view of this beautiful bridge.

Some aerial photography jobs are best captured with our Unmanned Aerial Vehicle UAV like this
picture of Rivery Blvd in Georgetown, TX. The UAV/Drone is an eight bladed Octocopter Heavy Lift. This small but sturdy little drone will carry a payload up to 12 pounds and give us up to 10 minutes of air time over our targets.  It will carry cameras that produce 4k images like the RED Epic, Dragon and Weapon. It will also carry the Canon C500, the Canon 5D Mark III and the GoPro. Our UAV/Drone is perfect for low altitude shots that would be more difficult for a larger manned helicopter to grab. Our UAV/Drone is also super affordable in comparison to the larger manned helicopters and gyro-stabilized camera systems.

DeLage-Landen sailing into NY City

16 Sep De Lage Landen in New York

De Lage Landen Sails Into New York

2011-2012 ‘De Lage Landen’ is one of ten identical yachts that spent nearly a year sailing around the world during Clipper 11-12. In total, these ships traveled forty thousand nautical miles over 74 thousand kilometers, visiting fourteen ports on six continents. HDaerial was asked to shoot aerial cinematography of the De Lage Landen arriving in New York. The aerial footage was shot by Matt Trub, with HDaerial using the Cineflex V14. The Cineflex V14 was mounted on an Astar 355 Twin Star with expert film pilot, Al Cerullo as pilot. Aerial images of this beautiful clipper gliding by Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty with its spinnaker unfurled created lasting memories for the crew of the De Lage Landen.
While aerial filming was taking place, a ground crew was on the decks of the De Lage Landen shooting interviews and footage of the crew at work. To successfully capture the beautiful aerial images the client wanted, pre-production planning and logistics needed to be coordinated.
HDaerial excels at aerial coordination. Solid aerial coordination will make the difference between a really successful aerial project and a mediocre aerial project. HDaerial has identified qualified aerial film pilots and helicopters that can handle the proper gyro stabilized camera system for the job at hand regardless of where in the world the aerial job takes place. We coordinate with the production team all, ground crews to be featured in the shot and those that are not such as refueling crews and staging crews. HDaerial also makes sure all permits and certificates of insurance are properly in place before take off.
The De Lage Landen corporate video is a great example of how powerful and important aerial images can be to your corporate message. It takes team work to capture those aerial images. HDaerial brings a strong team to the table when hired to shoot aerial cinematography for your corporate video. HDaerial is a team you can count on to deliver the images you need to communicate your message.
