Dynamic Aerial Videography

When the phone rings and people want to talk to us about using aerial videography to capture those really dynamic aerial viewpoints for their project, we never know exactly what will be coming next.  aerial videography always draws the really creative producers who think outside the box.  This time it was EMC TV who called us.  This time we would be capturing dynamic aerial videography of skydivers as they jump from an airplane in Central Texas.  You may think, “Okay, what’s so hard about that?” but there’s more.  We needed to capture footage of them free falling into and out of an aerial formation.  The next step was the opening of the new 50 foot Dell Technologies logo banner that was to land precisely in the designated open field among the Dell Round Rock, TX campus buildings.  Then there were the skydivers in winged suits that were going to just skim over the top of the Dell Technologies banner as it is floating down.  There is always much more to aerial videography than meets the eye.  A tremendous amount of coordination between the pilot of the airplane and the helicopter had to take place to make sure the timing was perfect but to also make sure the dellskydivers were always safe.  We used the Cineflex Elite with the Alexa Camera mounted to the nose of a Bell Jet Ranger.  Once again, our experienced aerial camera operator and film pilot were able to capture spectacular aerial images while our companion company, Matthew and Company was on the ground capturing spectacular images of this aerial acrobat show from the ground.  It was a great honor to have been invited to play a part in the introduction of this new alignment between Dell and EMC.  Dell’s merger with EMC to complete the Dell Technologies consortium may be one of the biggest steps toward advancing the use of technology in our daily lives.  The spectacular opening production for the introduction of Dell Technologies will give you a  great idea as to the significance of this new merger. It will also show you the dynamic aerial videography the professionals at  HDaerial can deliver.

29 Nov Aerials COTA Austin TX

Late in November of 2015, The Circuit of the Americas track in Austin, TX became the focus of our attention with over twenty of the new Cadillac V series cars on the track to show the world what they could do. Untitled Inc brought Scott Zacaroli on as Director and Matt Trub of HDaerial as Aerial Director of Photography to capture some of those spectacular moments of the Cadillac V Series Aerials COTA Austin TX. We used the Cineflex Ultra with the RED Epic Carbon Fiber Dragon camera and the Canon 4K Digital Zoom 30mm – 300mm lens. With the V series cars moving at speeds of up to 150 mph, the Cineflex Ultra was able to provide smooth and rock solid aerial footage at 4K of these cars moving around the track. The Cineflex ULTRA is lighter and more compact than competing systems, making it the superior choice for aircraft especially in fast moving circumstances like the Cadillac V Series Performance Labs at The Circuit of The Americas in Austin, TX.

This project was ultimately edited down into a two and a half minute video promoting the Cadillac V series and The Drive of your Life. Clearly, Cadillac is introducing new technology that will change the way consumers will look at Cadillac when considering their next car purchase. What better way to show case this new automobile technology than with the latest and greatest gyron stabilization technology ….the Cineflex Ultra and the RED Epic Carbon Fiber Dragon with Matt Trub, Aerial Director of Photography behind the controls.

Circuit of The Americas is more than a race track – it is the only purpose-built facility in the United States designed to host premier motorsports championships in the world, including Formula One, MotoGP, the FIA World Endurance Championship and the Tudor United Sports Car Championship. HDaerial Inc. provides aerial services at Circuit of the Americas. Whether you need helicopters, Cineflex camera systems (2k-6k), RF Downlinks for broadcast, aerial camera operators, technicians and ground crew, HDaerial can provide many of the services locally, saving you time and money. 20 Apr A More Beautiful Barn – Glenn

A More Beautiful Barn – Glenn was filmed in Loose Creek, MO. HDaerial, in conjunction with Matthew and Company were asked to film over a three week period three separate paintings of murals on barns throughout the US for Cargill. HDaerial employed their UAV octocopter with the MōVI M10 gyro stabilized gimbal to capture the beautiful images for A More Beautiful Barn – Glenn. The UAV / Drone carried the RED Dragon camera, capturing at 6K with various Ziess CP2 prime lens. They also were able to provide the MōVI M10 stabilized system for ground coverage. “We could change out the system from our aerial rig to a handheld rig in about forty five minutes and reverse that configuration in about one hour. This way the client had the versatility to fly aerials in the morning and use the MōVI during the day for ground shots then re-rig for aerials in the afternoon”, Richard Trub said. “Our custom built UAV octocopter / Drone had no problems with carrying the Dragon and the CP2’s what so ever, the motors never over heated and the MōVI was rock solid”. Richard said.
Cargill, Inc., is an American privately held, multinational corporation based in Minnetonka, Minnesota, a Minneapolis suburb. Founded in 1865, it is now the largest privately held corporation in the United States in terms of revenue.

20 Aug Corporate Aerial Filming for Odfjell

Corporate Aerial Filming for Odfjell

, Aerial Cinematographer, with HDaerial Inc. was excited to be a part of the corporate aerial filming for the Odfjell production. Aerial footage was shot in December of 2013, using the new Cineflex Elite platform and Alexa camera. Thanks to aerial film pilot Bob Spradlin, much of the aerial footage was captured 60 miles offshore from the Port of Houston in the Gulf of Mexico. Nothing is more dramatic than a beautiful freighter at work in the middle of the ocean. The Cineflex Elite flawlessly captured men at work on the decks, a beautiful sunset with level horizon, aerials of the Port of Houston and downtown Houston. All of this corporate aerial footage was captured in one day. To accomplish this, aerial coordination with the ship’s crew, the ground crew, the client and the FAA were critical.

HDaerial excels at aerial coordination. Solid aerial coordination will make the difference between a really successful aerial project and a mediocre aerial project. HDaerial has identified qualified aerial film pilots and helicopters that can handle the proper gyro stabilized camera system for the job at hand regardless of where in the world the aerial job takes place. We coordinate with the production team all ground crews to be featured in the shot and those that are not such as refueling crews and staging crews. HDaerial also makes sure all permits and certificates of insurance are properly in place before take off.

The corporate aerial filming for Odfjell is a great example of how powerful and important aerial images can be to your corporate message. It takes team work to capture those aerial images. HDaerial brings a strong team to the table when hired to shoot aerial cinematography for your corporate video. HDaerial is a team you can count on to deliver the images you need to communicate your message.

04 Aug Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engine

When you think of Rolls Royce, you typically think of a really nice car. Well, this job took us out to Tucson, AZ and it wasn’t a car we were shooting. We were hired by Rolls Royce to film the new Trent 1000 engine going through some of its testing paces. This engine is now considered the most reliable engine on the new 787 airplanes.

This was a 4 camera video shoot; 2 cameras on the ground covering take-offs and landings, 1 camera in a fixed wing jet flying along the side of the Trent 1000 engine and 1 camera mounted in a Cineflex V-14 on the nose of a Eurocopter AStar 350 B2. We were there for 3 days capturing all the footage we could of this incredible new engine technology.

This one took some coordination so we took Matt as Director of all Photography and aerial cinematograper, Richard Trub as Camera Operator on camera 1, we hired Holly Romero, a local Camera Operator to run ground camera 2, Mark McKenna as Camera Operator 3 in the Citation Jet, Steven Meckler as Still Photograper and Kay Trub as Producer on the project.

We have many years experience with aerial photography and aerial cinematography and use the best gyro-stabilized solutions for aerial filming. Contact us today toll free at 1-800-897-7637 for a free consult on your next project.
